Who should attend? If you are:

A beginner picking up a brush for the first time and seeking solid how-to instruction building a strong foundation for painting.

  • Someone who has had some experience painting but needs additional tips and techniques to advance their painting skills.
  • Someone returning after a long time away from the easel and needing to refresh their painting skills.

Then this workshop is designed for you!

The goal of this workshop is to provide solid how-to painting information so you can control and deliver your own artistic vision including:

  • What paint, colors, brushes, mediums, and painting  surfaces to select and when to use them
  • How-to observe, draw, compose, design and simplify from life to canvas
  • How to select and mix colors
  • How to apply paint to enabling you to deliver crisp lines and clean colors to the canvas even when wet
  • How to animate, elevate and bring life to your subject
  • And much more!

This comprehensive workshop will start with a lecture covering the “basics” of painting (from materials to paint handling). The workshop will also cover the fundamentals of drawing, composition, color, value and perspective.

Instruction will include a painting demo each day, with step-by explanation of the process.

Both days, the participants will paint a series of quick studies from still lifes incorporating the fundamentals discussed, with plenty of one-on-one individual instruction throughout

the day.
